Abstract
This chapter provides an overview of the life cycle assessment tool (LCA). It is used to evaluate the environmental consequences of an industrial ventilation project. LCA is a compilation and evaluation of inputs, outputs, and the potential environmental impacts of a product system throughout its life cycle. LCA serves several purposes in industry. It is a good learning process and a method of systematically handling and processing environmental information related to products. The application of LCA to accounting may also be used for decision-making in various situations, such as purchasing, product development, or the development of a company's environmental strategy. The use of LCA for communicating environmental achievements to interest groups is an important option. Some other environmental assessment tools are: risk assessment, cost–benefit analysis, and environmental impact assessment.
