Abstract

This chapter discusses mathematical expectation, variance, and covariance. It focuses on mathematical expectation and its relationship with mean, variance, and covariance. The variance of x, where x is a member of a population is defined as the second moment about the mean. The histogram approximates very well to a normal distribution. The histogram for the distribution of means is obtained by plotting the frequencies.
