Abstract

This chapter discusses techniques for working with Outlook information stores and folders—creating them, exploring their properties, and accessing folders beyond the default set. Messages and other Outlook items are stored in folders. Folders are kept in an information store. Every Outlook user has at least one information store. For a standalone user, the basic store is Personal Folders .pst file. For a user connected to Microsoft exchange server, the basic store is the exchange server mailbox. However, an exchange server user may also have a .pst file. Regardless of whether the default store is an Exchange Server mailbox or a Personal Folders .pst file, any user may have several .pst files open in Outlook.
