Abstract

This chapter elaborates upon the equivalent length factors for gas lines and the energy conversion data. Flow of gas is also defined here. The Fanning equation for pressure drop may be used for gas flow problems, as encountered in oil field production operations. In actual practice, empirical flow formulas are used by many to solve the gas flow problems of field production operations. The Weymouth formula is the one most frequently used because results that are obtained by its use agree quite closely with actual values. Recent modification of the formula, by including the compressibility factor, Z, rendered it applicable for calculation of high-pressure flow problems.
