Abstract
The chapter focuses on the thermoforming of polyvinyl fluoride (PVF) films and laminates. It is stated that volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions can be saved if paint is replaced with PVF film. It provides a detailed description of thermoforming process. Information on formability of oriented PVF films is presented. PVF film finds uses in a variety of commercial applications including: aircraft interiors, buses, automotive trim and fascia, sportscraft, and industrial equipment. The chapter provides technical information related to thermoforming ABS sheet clad with Tedlar® SP PVF film. It is stated that the forming temperature of the sheet is one of the most critical processing parameters. Tedlar® SP films have been used successfully with a range of thermoplastic substrates, including: polyvinyl chloride (PVC), Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol (PETG), and polyetherether ketone (PEKK).
