Abstract

Results of laboratory investigations of corrosion and electrochemical behavior of traditional metallic materials in aggressive media of electrochemical plants are considered. The studies were carried out under conditions of anodic polarization which imitated the attack by anodic leakage currents. Carbon steel was studied in neutral and alkaline solutions of chlorides. Boundaries of the corrosion stability of stainless steel 18-10 in acid sulfate containing electrolyte for copper electrorefining and of steel 18-10 and nickel in 50% NaCl solution at the temperature of 120°C were defined. It was also found that stainless steel 18-10 keeps corrosion stability at the attack of anodic current in the technological solution of perborate production.
