Abstract

Our successful scientists were all skeptical and independent thinkers, but even they could not always master their personal ambitions and biases. Each one thought deeply about the problems he or she wished to solve and acted energetically to solve them. In some respects, the scientific method has enough generality to even be applied to modern political controversies.
