Abstract

Several new types of ceramic matrix composites (CMCs) and their processing techniques have recently been developed. This chapter discusses the development of composites based on MAX phases, geopolymers, and cold ceramics. Spark plasma sintering and strong magnetic field alignment are highlighted as emerging techniques for the synthesis and densification of CMCs. Emerging or potential applications of selective CMCs are highlighted.
