Abstract
Advanced biofuels are recognized as a key tool to mitigate the <TEX>$CO_2$</TEX> emissions in the transport sector. Active R&D works have been carried out but there are still some major barriers to implement the technology. In this paper, recent developments on the advanced biofuels' technology are reviewed and the major barriers to commercialization of the biofuels will be discussed.
