Abstract

In the presented article, the main results of the study on the necessity and specifi cs of risk management in the implementation of postgraduate business education in a distance format are presented for consideration. The author considers factors that increase the uncertainty of the external environment of organizations of higher and postgraduate education, the infl uence of these factors on the process of making managerial decisions and its eff ectiveness. In addition, the applicability of international practices and approaches to risk management in the system of higher and postgraduate education is determined. General and specifi c risk groups are established that arise precisely in the distance education format, where appropriate, tools for monitoring or reducing the impact of uncertainty that can cause these risks are proposed. The paper provides a classifi cation of risks, which, in the author’s opinion, quite fully structures the main risks associated with higher education in general, business education and distance learning in articular. In the article, the author gives his practical experience of adapting the international standard to postgraduate distance business education programs, including in the absence of a formalized risk management system in the organization of higher and postgraduate education in which these programs are implemented.
