Abstract

Abstract Ma.ri.ni.cri'nis. L. adj. marinus of the sea, marine; L. masc. n. crinis hair; N.L. masc. n. Marinicrinis marine hair. Firmicutes / Bacilli / Bacillales / Paenibacillaceae / Marinicrinis Marinicrinis is a genus in the family Paenibacillaceae , order Bacillales , class Bacilli , phylum Firmicutes . It currently includes two species – Marinicrinis sediminis and Marinicrinis lubricantis , isolated from marine sediment and coolant lubricant, respectively. Colonies of Marinicrinis are circular, yellow or beige. The two species of the genus show different features. They are facultatively anaerobic or aerobic, Gram‐stain‐variable or ‐positive, endospore‐forming, and mesophiles. Differences are observed in the ability to produce acid from substrates. meso ‐diaminopimelic acid ( meso ‐Dpm) is a diagnostic diamino acid of the peptidoglycan. The major fatty acids are anteiso‐C 15 :0 , iso‐C 15 :0 , iso‐C 16 :0, and C 16 :0 . The major respiratory quinone is MK7. The polar lipids profile of the genus contains diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, unidentified phosphoaminolipid, unidentified glycolipids, and unidentified lipids. 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis indicated that the closest phylogenetic relatives of genus Marinicrinis are members of genera Paenibacillus and Fontibacillus . DNA G + C content (mol%) : 58.1–68.2% (HPLC). Type species : Marinicrinis sediminis Guo, Xia, Ling, Chen and Du 2016, 3728 VP .
