Abstract

Pyrocarbon coatings of nanometer and submicron thickness were applied to coarse powders by Low Pressure Chemical Vapor Deposition (LPCVD), using a technical mixture of propane-butane. The nfluence of the nature of the carrier powder and CVD parameters on the deposition process was studied: total pressure (5 and 17 kPa), temperature (800, 900, 1000 °C), deposition time (0.5–3 h). The specific weight of the coatings was measured, the coatings thickness and the conversion degree of the reactant in the reactor were calculated, other engineering calculations were carried out. Design and technological solutions and research results are compared with those known from the literature
