Abstract

From the cognitive complexity of icons and the time pressure, combined with the hot topics and main problems in the current icon design and integrating the relevant knowledge of cognitive psychology. The purpose of this study is to explore the influencing factors in the process of icon cognition by using the classic figure-word repetition test paradigm, combined with the dimensions of time pressure and cognitive complexity, such as specificity, which is conducive to improve the cognitive efficiency of icons and enhance the interactive experience of users. Research indicates, that time pressure has a significant impact on icon understanding; The concreteness of icons has a significant impact on the understanding of icons; Icon familiarity has a significant impact on icon understanding; Semantic matching has a certain impact on icon understanding. Based on the above research results, guidance for designers in icon design can be provided, so as to improve user operation efficiency and user experience.
