Abstract
This study examines the diverse methodologies scholars employ in Islamic Preaching, highlighting the key differences among them. It emphasizes that the holistic development of propagators requires a focus on four dimensions: knowledge, skills, values, andPreaching principles. Using a descriptive and comparative approach, the study analyses literature on the science of Preaching published between 2014 and 2024, organising it into thematic categories based on shared characteristics. The findings reveal four major approaches to Islamic propagation. The Quranic narrative approach, constituting most of the literature, comprehensively explores all four dimensions. The prophetic narrative approach, though less prominent, primarily addresses the skills and values essential for propagators. The heritage-based approach draws on classical Islamic texts but remains underrepresented, with limited contributions. Lastly, the humanities-based approach explores interdisciplinary connections, particularly with mass communication and psychology, offering valuable insights, especially in-field research, but with a narrower focus. This study underscores the need for further exploration of these approaches to enhance the science of Islamic propagation and its methodologies.
