Abstract
The subject of the study is interpretation of the concept of historical sources critics, its structure and tasks іn the university courses of I. Krypyakevich in 1918 and 1922. The research methodology is based on the principle of historicism, general research methods of analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction, as well as historical-genetic, historical-comparative, problem-chronological. Purpose: On the basis of unpublished archival material show Krypyakevych's contribution to the development of source critics, in particular its structure, subject of research, tasks, as well as promotion and improvement of the best achievements of European historical science in this area on Ukrainian material. Conclusion. In the university courses of 1918 and 1922 of the Lviv historian Ivan Krypyakevich, the main questions of the theory and methodology of historical research, in particular source studies, are revealed. He formulated definitions, tasks and the subject of internal and external critics, revealed their structure. The scientist is involved in the formation of source studies as an educational university discipline. He defended the status of historical research as a full-fledged scientific research with its specific methods. The analyzed courses of 1918 and 1922 allow us to trace the evolution and transformation of his ideas regarding the scheme and techniques of source analysis. Their involvement in the scientific circulation will allow to determine the degree of independent contribution of I. Krypyakevich in comparison with the Western European basis in the development of the theoretical and methodological foundations of source studies. The recommendations of the Lviv historian do not lose their relevance.
