Abstract
The main features the development of the information society in the context of the process of globalization are singled out. The essence of the concepts «information society» and « the institutes of democracy» is defined, and the interrelation between these concepts in the conditions of modern globalization processes is analyzed. Features of the functioning of the institutes of democracy and the possibility of their transformation in the conditions of the modern information society are considered. It is determined that the state has the leading role in the formation of the information society, it coordinates the activities of various subjects of society in the process of its formation, facilitates the integration of people into a new information and technological environment, the development of information industry industries, ensuring the progress of the institutes of democracy and respect for individual rights in the information society.
