Abstract
The formation of regional identity is a strategic task of the state because it aims to create a solid foundation for personal identification in the connection "I am a small homeland – my native country". The small museum, which is closest to its visitor, regardless of types and scale of activity, is the core of local historical memory and aims to foster love for the small homeland and deep respect for its historical heritage, updating knowledge about the native land among as many representatives of the real and potential audience as possible. Interaction with the audience in a small museum has its own specifics related to understanding the role of personality in history, both in the content of museum exhibitions and in the organization of museum activities.
