Abstract

The article focuses on studying A. N. Ostrovsky’s adaptive translations of French plays. The research objective includes identifying the role and place of dramaturgical translations in A. N. Ostrovsky’s creative work. Literary translations are an important part of the writer’s creative heritage, they have already attracted researchers’ attention, but French plays translations have not been previously investigated, which determines scientific originality of the study. The paper analyzes A. N. Ostrovsky’s motives for choosing a certain French play. The research findings are as follows: the author identifies the place of the chosen authors in French literature, reveals the nature of translation transformations.
