Abstract

The object of the study is occupational morbidity. The purpose of the paper is to assess the completeness and reliability of official information on occupational morbidity in Russia and to identify existing problems in this area. The research methods include statistical and comparative analysis of domestic and foreign statistics, scientific literature, and Internet sources. One of the most important results of the study is an array of new scientific and statistical data, which serve as additional evidence that the incompleteness of official data on occupational morbidity in Russia that has persisted for a number of years does not allow us to identify its real extent and develop effective measures to reduce it. It has been established that the country retains a high proportion of people working in harmful and dangerous conditions, which in recent years include healthcare. There is a lack of interest in revealing the real picture of occupational morbidity both on the part of employers and employees, medical organizations, and even control and supervisory authorities. The official list of occupational pathologies is outdated, and a number of industries and types of economic activity are not covered by occupational morbidity accounting at all. It is concluded that a necessary condition for intensifying work related to identifying the real extent of occupational morbidity is to improve its accounting, increase the completeness and coverage, simplify the mechanism for diagnosing occupational pathology, and adapt to the changed situation of labor protection regulation in accordance with the author's recommendations set forth in this article. The scope of the research results lies in the fact that the materials of the study can be used by federal and regional legislative and executive authorities that develop measures and implement state policy in the field of labor protection, and perform control and supervisory functions.
