Abstract
This article examines the prospects for freight carsharing development in Ukraine as an innovative model for optimizing logistics operations. Globally, freight carsharing is recognized as an effective solution for reducing operational costs, improving flexibility, and enhancing sustainability, especially for small and medium enterprises. Successful examples from Germany, the USA, and Japan demonstrate its advantages in resource optimization and environmental impact reduction. However, in Ukraine, this concept faces significant barriers that hinder its implementation. The study highlights key obstacles, including unclear legal frameworks, low levels of digitalization, economic constraints, and underdeveloped infrastructure. The absence of regulations tailored to shared-use models creates operational uncertainties. Limited digital transformation in the logistics sector slows the integration of modern technologies, while insufficient investments in infrastructure further complicate implementation. Digitalization is identified as essential for freight carsharing. Advanced platforms driven by artificial intelligence, blockchain, and big data analytics can automate vehicle booking, route optimization, and fleet management, creating a unified ecosystem to streamline operations and cut costs. Moreover, integrating these platforms with existing logistics systems will enhance efficiency and competitiveness. The article emphasizes the role of electric vehicles (EVs) in transforming freight carsharing. The transition to EVs not only reduces fuel costs but also minimizes carbon emissions, aligning with global sustainability trends. The study underscores the importance of developing EV infrastructure, including charging stations in cities and logistics hubs. To support this transition, policy measures such as tax incentives, subsidies for EV purchases, and investments in green energy are recommended. Freight carsharing offers Ukraine a pathway to modernize its logistics sector, enhance sustainability, and align with global trends. Addressing technological, legal, and infrastructural challenges will unlock its potential, creating a more efficient and environmentally friendly transportation ecosystem.
