Abstract
The world monetary system is a complex, complex concept. She faced serious problems that arose due to the deterioration of the socio-economic situation in the world against the background of the coronavirus pandemic. Until 2019–2020, the world monetary system developed in difficult economic conditions, largely dependent on the influence of historical events and political factors. In order to understand what directions and development guidelines the modern world monetary system has, it is necessary to turn to the historical stages of its formation, which will help determine the causes of instability and identify the vectors of development of the world monetary system in a prospective assessment. The purpose of the study is to study and clarify conceptual approaches to the processes of formation and development of the world monetary system. The objectives of the study are to analyze existing approaches and concepts of the development of the world monetary system and identify problematic aspects of its development.
