Abstract
The study aims to identify toponyms and microtoponyms in the Siberian Tatars’ folklore texts, determine peculiarities of relationship between folklore and toponymics. Scientific novelty of the research lies in the fact that an analysis of toponymic vocabulary in the Siberian Tatars’ folklore is conducted for the first time making it possible to draw conclusions about national and cultural distinctiveness of space conceptualisation, which can be reconstructed using toponymic data. Materials, collected by the authors during complex expeditions to record folklore, ethnographical and linguistic data in the areas with high concentration of the Tatars in Tomsk, Omsk, Novosibirsk regions, as well as folklore collections served as sources of toponymic vocabulary. The attained results have showed that folklore toponymy is a means of transferring a toponymic version of ethnocultural information in the Siberian Tatars’ perception and a source for studying the western dialect of the Tatar language.
