Abstract

This article presents the role and importance of the quality as a socio-economic category, which is the basis for social development. The scientific field of Quality Economics developed by the author is presented, the main elements of which are metrology, standardization and quality management. Their importance for economic development and improvement of the quality of life is revealed. The experience of creating a multilevel system for training of specialists in the field of quality in Saint Petersburg is demonstrated.
