Abstract
The relevance of this study lies in the fact that at present the theory of intertextuality is one of the main directions of study in modern philology. Inclusion of phraseological units in a number of intertextual elements enriches the concept of intertextuality, which in turn contributes to the growth of potential of phraseologisms in modern English. Phraseologisms acting as intertextual elements are used by many authors to transfer various types of information, primarily culturological information through the activation of readers’ thesaurus knowledge. The aim of the study is to broaden the understanding of the concept of phraseological intertextuality and the role, which it plays in poetic texts, in particular, to show that phraseological intertextual elements are heterogeneous in modern American poetry and they require different degrees of activation of readers’ background knowledge. The study identifies two groups of intertextual phraseological units: they are biblical phraseological units and Shakespearean phraseological units.

Summary
Актуальность статьи обусловлена тем, что в настоящее время теория интертекстуальности стала одним из направлений изучения текста в современной филологии. Включение фразеологических единиц в состав интертекстем обогащает понятие интертекстуальности, что, в свою очередь, способствует росту потенциала фразеологических единиц в современном английском языке. Фразеологизмы, выступая в качестве интертекстем, используются многими авторами для передачи различного типа информации, прежде всего, культурологической за счет активации тезаурусных знаний у реципиента. Цель статьи — расширить представление о понятии фразеологической интертекстуальности и той роли, которую она играет в поэтическом тексте, в частности, показать, что фразеологические интертекстемы в поэзии носят неоднородный характер и требуют различной степени активации фоновых знаний читателя. В ходе исследования были выделены две группы фразеологических единиц: библеизмы и шекспиризмы. Ключевые слова: текст, интертекстуальность, интертекст, интертекстема, фразеологическая единица, поэзия
