Abstract

The article analyzes the possibilities of using information and communication technologies in the lessons of labor training during the study of the technique of hand cross stitching. The advantages of using modern computer technologies and software in the process of teaching students of embroidery (demonstration of photos, slideshows or videos related to embroidery and embroidered items, duplication and reproduction of ornaments, execution and printing of a grid for drawing ornaments manually, creation of cross ornaments directly on the computer, conversion of a variety of graphic images into a cross stitch pattern using various graphic editors and special programs) are reviewed. The most common programs for creating embroidery ornaments and converting a normal image or photo into a pattern for embroidery (Pattern Maker for Cross stitch, EmbroBox, NeedleWoman, STOIK Stitch Creator, Stitch Art Easy, Stitching with My Jain, Cross, PCStitch, Cross Stitch Pro) are listed. Possibilities of the pupils’ work with Stitch Art Easy, which helps to convert a digital drawing or photo into an embroidery scheme, are described in detail. It is stated that the introduction of labor training into the educational process (including the techniques of hand cross-stitching and modern computer technologies) creates opportunities for improving the quality of pupils’ learning and versatile development of their personalities, and provides for the formation of their information and communication competence. It is proved that the use of modern information and communication technologies in the lessons of labor training avoids routine preparatory work and focuses on the process of creativity itself. The use of special programs for the creation of story-based embroidery schemes (including Stitch Art Easy) allows pupils not to be limited by traditional ornamentation and to maximize their creativity by turning any image or picture into an embroidery scheme. It helps them to create unique items which incorporate artistic taste and the ability to see the beauty and translate it into a work of art, combining the ancient art and modern computer technology.
