Abstract
The problems of updating the tribal identity of the Altaians in the context of the touristic development in the Altai Republic are highlighted based on the analysis of feld material collected by ethnographic observation. The Kurultay of “mundus” (June, 2023) raised the problems of natural ecology and the ethnic culture of the region. The decision to open the Museum of “mundus”-seok expresses the legitimation of tribal identity. It is noted that in the context of the economic globalization, deleting of ethno-cultural boundaries and the commercialization of culture, some small peoples and languages. the centers of origin and dissemination of their culture are under threat of disappearance.
