Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship among achievement-goal orientation, self-management, and training commitment of middle school athletes. In order to achieve this purpose, a study was conducted by selecting basketball and soccer players registered with the Korea Sports Council in 2021.BR Method: A total of 350 copies were used as final data for data collection through the survey. Data analysis was conducted through exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, frequency analysis, cross-analysis reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis using SPSS 25.0 and AMOS 23.0. The Influence between variables and mediating effects were tested.BR Results: First, task orientation, a sub-factor of achievement-goal orientation of middle school athletes, was found to have a positive effect on interpersonal management, mental management, body management, and training management of self-management. Second, it was found that the achievement-goal orientation subfactor task orientation of middle school athletes had a positive effect on the training commitment factor. Third, it was found that mental management, training management, and interpersonal management, which are sub-factors of self-management, had a positive effect on the training commitment factor. Fourth, Self-management was found to have a mediating effect on the relationship between achievement-goal orientation and training commitment.BR Conclusion: By presenting the results of the effective improvement of training commitment of middle school athletes, it is expected to help improve individual skills and team performance of athletes active in the sports field.
