Abstract

This study used focus group interviews in a qualitative research study to explore the problems and improvements in the management system of a college soccer team. The participants of this study were six college soccer team managers. Focus group interviews were conducted to collect data, and thematic coding was applied to refine categories and subcategories. The findings of this study are as follows. First, the study revealed the administrative, financial, and support problems of college soccer. Second, the problems of player selection and career paths were presented. Third, we found problems with student life management, academic management, and athlete education. Fourth, we presented issues related to coaches' salaries, working environment, and coaches' job security. Fifth, for efficient operation, they suggested ways to improve operations, entrance examination system and employment, athlete management, and treatment of coaches.
