Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore the value of Koryo Theart as a World Cultural Heritage Site by examining the value of Koryo Theart in Kazakhstan as a heritage and analyzing the suitability of listing it as a cultural heritage according to the World Heritage Evaluation Standards. To this end, the concept, type and the standards of world cultural heritage were confirmed. In addition, the cultural heritage of Kazakhstan, which has already been registered, and the criteria for its registration were confirmed. Next, in order to reveal the cultural value of Koryo Theart, the history of Koryo Theart, the relationship between Koryo Theart and Koryoin, and the role of Koryo Theart that continues to this day were examined. In addition, the World Heritage value of Koryo Theart was analyzed based on the criteria for listing cultural heritages similar to Koryo Theart. Considering the historical value of the suppression of minorities and the history of fairy tale policies, starting with the role of the Koryo Theart and the active migration policy, the Koryo Theart has cultural heritage value. The criterion for judgment is “bear a unique or at least exceptional testimony to a cultural tradition or to a civilization which is living or which has disappeared” and “be directly or tangibly associated with events or living traditions, with ideas, or with beliefs, with artistic and literary works of outstanding universal significance.”
