Abstract
The paper examines the biographical data and merits of three representatives of the Istomins family – native sons of the village of Izhma. The author discusses merits of F. Istomin as one of the first missionaries in the tundra zone of the Pechora area, activities in the field of literature, local history, linguistics of his son M.F. Istomin and scientific achievements of his grandson F.M. Istomin, one of the first Komi ethnographers.
