Abstract

The purpose of the article is to substantiate the need for comprehension of the scientific work of scientists of the VIII-XX centuries in the formation and confirmation of allelopathy as an independent scientific direction. The methodological tool of research is based on the general principles of historicism, science and objectivity. The article analyzes the stages of formation and development of the doctrine of the chemical interaction of plants or allelopathy, which was formed at the junction of related sciences – phytocenology, soil science, microbiology, etc. The process of formation of scientific thought is considered: from the first written references of the scientists of the ancient world to the scientific work of outstanding researchers of the VIII-XX centuries. with regard to plantallelopathy.
