Abstract

The course of eimeriosis in broiler chickens was studied during experimental infection with a mixed culture (Eimeria acervulina, Eimeria tenella, Eimeria maxima) at a dose of 500 sporumerated oocysts. The disease did not manifest itself clinically, the chickens of the challenge and control groups ate the food well, the chickens of the experimental group were less active, and their feces were mixed with mucus. The chickens of the challenge group consumed 765 g more feed than the control group; the increase in live weight over 7 days in the challenge group was 5.6 g lower than the control one. During histological examination, changes were noted in the duodenum, middle intestine and blind processes of the large intestine, characteristic of eimeriosis.
