Abstract
This article presents the concepts «competence» and «competency» from a practical point of view and gives their theoretical definitions. It is analyzed in the article that the development of teachers’ competencies in Kazakhstan is carried out through various courses, and the importance of applying the knowledge received in these courses is also considered. Teachers working with the updated curriculum of secondary education can use the information from this article in their own practice, reflect, analyze and improve.
