Abstract
Researchers in the field of literary and psychological studies agree that literature represents a field in which the meanings and emotions of the soul are expressed, and that sarcasm is an essence of psychological emotions that is manifested in many forms, including poetry.Accordingly, I decided to study irony in the emotional poetry of a prominent poet who occupies a distinguished position in Arabic literature, Bashar bin Burd, due to the unique value that his poetry has enjoyed throughout the ages. Bashar was a controversial figure because of the topics he organized, his position in society at the time, and his morals and behavior, which were considered a departure from law and custom, as described by biographers and literary historians. His poetry is considered a prominent embodiment of sarcasm, which is often characterized by boldness and reprehensibleness without specific limits, which extended to include a large part of his collection.Although some of the sarcasm in his poetry seems praiseworthy on the surface, most of it expresses the bad character that characterizes its author. This brief research includes the following points:1st Chapter: The concept of Sarcasm and emotional poetry2nd Chapter: Motives of sarcasm in Bashar's poetry3rd Chapter: Sarcasm in the emotional poetry of Bashar bin BurdConclusion of the research
