Abstract

This study aims to design and validate a tool for measuring practical application, focusing on confirming the effectiveness of the invention education job training for in-service teachers facilitated by the Invention Teacher Education Center. To achieve this, the research questions were formulated to identify sub-factors that constitute practical applicability and determine how to construct the scale to judge the practical applicability of invention teachers. The study employed a systematic process involving theoretical review, expert content validation, a preliminary test, factor analysis, a main test, and reliability analysis to develop the practical applicability scale.
Concerning the first research question, ‘What are the sub-factors for measuring the practical application of invention teachers after the invention education on-the-job training?’, we identified key elements and components of practical applicability through insights from existing research, generating a total of 24 draft questions through an expert feasibility review. Subsequently, exploratory factor analysis narrowed these to 20 questions across 4 factors: learning wave guidance, improvement in educational ability, training usefulness, and educational utilization. The final 20 questions yielded very high reliability scores exceeding 0.7 for all four subfactors during the main test, ensuring the scale’s validity and reliability.
Regarding the second research question, ‘How should the items of the scale that can judge the practical application of invention teachers after the invention education job training be composed?’, the measurement tool consisted of a total of 20 questions across 4 subfactors. The learning wave guidance comprised 8 questions on the degree of memory for program content, topics, and keywords. The improvement in educational ability, consisting of 5 questions, gauged the degree of performance and ability improvement related to the topic. Training usefulness consisted of 4 questions measuring the degree of interest and usefulness in invention education. Finally, educational utilization, consisting of 3 questions, assessed the degree of use in school settings, including classes.
