On the example of a number of unique specific objects, the connection of the past with the environment of modern man is demonstrated. The article clearly shows the cause-effect relationships between the first inventions and tools related to orientation in space and modern technologies. The influence of various scientific and technical aspects on the formation of a platform for the formation of a digital society of the future is shown. All of the above allows formulating a hypothesis and predicting how navigation will develop in real and virtual space in the future and what will serve as a source of inspiration for it.
