Abstract
The article examines the problem of implementation of the KPI indicators of the universities in achieving their strategic goals, solving the managerial problem of assessing the effectiveness of the university`s management and the units (departments) of the administration. The theoretical and methodological approaches to the definition of KPI (Key Performance Indicators) are defined; the conditions for the effectiveness of the evaluation system for KPIs are determined, the relevance of the implementation of the system of key performance indicators (KPIs) in higher education institutions has been proved. The experience of ukrainian and foreign universities in the implementation of the system of indicators of the efficiency of the higher education institutions is researched. The experience of working out and structuring of key performance indicators of Vasyl’ Stus Donetsk National University is presented. It is shown which tasks of strategic management can be solved by applying the evaluation of the activities of units (departments) and responsible executives (employees) on the basis of determining the target and current values of key performance indicators.
