Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate how much influence students" grit would have on their goal commitment and classroom engagement in university PE classes as part of liberal arts. For this purpose, 321 were selected among the population of university students in Seoul, Gyeonggi and Chungcheong Province through convenience sampling. Collected data was put to multiple regression analysis with the SPSS 25.0 statistical program. The findings were as follows:<BR> First, students" grit had statistically significant effects on their goal commitment in university PE classes as liberal arts; secondly, their goal commitment had statistically significant effects on their classroom engagement in university PE classes; and finally, their grit had statistically significant effects on their classroom engagement in university PE classes, but consistency of interest, a subfactor of grit, had no significant effects on their classroom engagement.
