Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of students" interest in Physical Education on their goal commitment and classroom engagement. In order to achieve this purpose, middle and high school students in Gyeonggi-do were set as the population, and 311 students were selected as the research subjects by the convenient sampling method. The collected data was analyzed using the statistical program SPSS Win Ver 23.0 for multiple regression. The results are as follows: first, the students" interest in PE class had a statistically significant effect on their goal commitment. Second, the students" goal commitment for PE class showed a statistically significant effect on their classroom engagement. Third, the students" interest in PE class had a statistically significant effect on their classroom engagement.
