Abstract
The author analyzes the features of development and the main vectors of transformation of the moderate trends of Indonesian political Islam in 2021. It is assumed that the COVID-19 pandem-ic has become an incentive for the technical modernization of Islam in the context of its virtualization. The article deals with the problems of activation of the oldest, “historical” organizations of In-donesian Muslims, including Muhammadiyah and Nahdatul Ulama. The author provides the materi-als of their congresses held in 2021. The role of political parties in the contemporary history of Indonesian political Islam is considered. The author believes that modern Indonesian political Islam is looking for new forms of structural self-organization. Therefore, it is shown that moderate political Islam seeks to use the resources of modernization and is active also in the development and use of virtual space.
