Abstract

As a result of work on located near the Altai region Krasnoshchekovskij district Mayak-1 burial ground in 1997 it was established that «mound 3» in group 1 consisted of IV–III centuries BC three mounds attached to each other in triangular shape. According to all data there was a deliberate arrangement of three cultural groups burials: 1) Pazyryk people (burial mound 3b); 2) Pazyryk people who perceived Kamenskaya culture burial rite with mound device of several burials around the central (mound 3b); 3) unknown cultural affiliation population with a circular arrangement of graves around the central one, with the burial of a man in undercut grave, and a full horse carcass in the entrance pit of the grave (mound 3a). The materials indicate that this foothills area was the contact one where Pazyryk population and adjacent plain inhabitants mixing and acculturation took place
