Abstract

The sustainable development strategy is becoming increasingly popular in the Russian Federation. This article presents a short historical excursion into the prerequisites for the transition of society to the ideas of sustainable development. The authors focused on the difference in the perception and meaning of sustainable development goals for society and business. The difficulties that Russian companies face in implementing the concept of sustainable development are considered. The authors consider the issue of the influence of the sustainable development strategy on the image of the organization. The connection between the two named concepts through the principles of sustainable development and factors of the organization’s activities is clearly shown. The statement of the influence of the principles of sustainable development on the factors of the company’s activities led the authors to the idea of transforming this influence into an ESG business model, where the principles of sustainable development become fundamental for the organization and determine all areas of its activities, which leads to their perception as principles of production practice for organizations, who have chosen a sustainable development strategy for their development.
