Abstract

The article scrutinizes the assessment of the potential for social and labor mobility of the population of the Re-public of Tuva through the prism of migration potential. The empirical basis is the data of sociological surveys conducted in 2019, 2021 and 2022 in this constituent entity of the Federation. The results of the survey revealed that about 10 % of respondents can potentially leave the region, but the opportunities for such migration are not very significant. The determining factor for relocation is not so much an active life strategy as the financial level of citizens. In other words, insufficient funds for travel and settling in a new place of residence is a priority for refusal to migrate. Possible causes for the population’s potential departure from the republic have also been identified: problems of infrastructural unsettlement and personal circumstances, such as low wages, lack of suitable employment, fear of losing ethnic identity, changes in the habitual way of life.
