Abstract
The article presents the main prerequisites and stages of the formation of the Petrozavodsk urban agglomeration. The author suggests that the formation and development of the Petrozavodsk agglomeration will create additional benefits for the population and business of the territory, and can solve several problems of the peripheral territories of the agglomeration. The author gives some characteristics of the restrictions that impede the formation of the Petrozavodsk urban agglomeration. The main directions of intermunicipal cooperation within the framework of the Petrozavodsk urban agglomeration are proposed in conclusion.
