Abstract

The article describes mythological discourse as a suggestive type of communication.
The theoretical and methodological basis of the study was the structural-functionalist methodology, which made it possible to identify the role of mythological discourse in the modern communication space and its impact on mass consciousness. Structuralist, hermeneutic, semiotic and phenomenological methods have become important for revealing the suggestive mechanisms of modern myth-making.
In the process of research, the functions of modern mythological discourse were identified: warning, prognostic, modification, projective, manipulative, mediative, integrative, incentive, simulation, regulatory, suggestive-explanatory.
The author has studied the characteristic features, technologies and goals of the suggestive influence of mythological discourse on mass consciousness.
