Abstract

Most of the eel supplied to the world is farmed, but the biggest problem is that the technology for mass production of artificial glass Eel has not been established, so it is only possible through natural glass Eel. Accordingly, the current supply and demand for eels has an unstable structure in which eels are determined according to the increase or decrease in the amount of eel stocked. In the future, for sustainable eels aquaculture, resource management and protection of eels is required. Accordingly, in Japan, through the revision of the 「Inland Water Fisheries Act」 in 2014, the entire eel farming industry was converted into a full license system, and the regulations were further strengthened so that the effect can be maintained through annual renewal. Therefore, in this paper, we will look at the institutional changes in the Japanese eel farming industry and derive implications for the future direction of the Korean eel industry.
