Abstract
This study was to explore how mothers understand children"s play and play support at home through the interview method. The interviewees were 33 mothers who are raising aged 3 to 5 years old, and the interview data were analyzed qualitatively. As a result, data from the interview were interpreted into three categories with meaning of children"s play, difficulties in supporting play at home and need for play support at home, and 12 theme like play as happiness itself, lack of play time and physical limitation, need for a helper, etc. Based on the results, policy improvement to encourage support for children"s play at home were discussed.
