Abstract

The article examines the contribution of the Doctor of Cultural Studies, Professor Valentin Petrovich Gritskevich (1933–2013) to various fields of scientific knowledge. The article is published based on the materials of the report at the All-Russian scientific and practical seminar dedicated to the 90th anniversary of his birth (St. Petersburg, Saint Petersburg State University of Culture, Febr. 9, 2023). The stages of scientific activity of the scientist associated with research in the field of practical medicine and the history of medicine, the history of Belarus, the history of museum business, source studies are shown. The universal nature of the scientist’s research works, which are important for various fields of knowledge, is emphasized. The interdisciplinarity of the research, the use of multilingual sources, tools of various sciences are noted. The necessity of an integrated approach to the study of the scientific heritage of V. P. Gritskevich, due to the above factors, is indicated. The article focuses on the long-term teaching work of the scientist at the Department of Museology.
