Abstract

The purpose of this study is to suggest the current role, the need for new roles, various new roles, and legal amendments, in terms of the ability of school athletic team leader to perform various roles in and out of school beyond the role of enhancing current student athlete’s performance. As a result of this study, the school athletic team leaders are currently working on training plan preparation and guidance management for student athletes, support and guidance for student athletes to participate in various competitions, analysis of performance and preparation of training logs, and safety management of the training ground. In the future, various roles need to be reviewed by policy, academic and field approaches and according to the recommendation of the Sports Innovation Committee, it is necessary to include personality coaching and role as a cultural transfer. Specifically, the school athletic team leaders will be able to perform well after-school sports management, sports club competition management in the school, student health evaluation management, student physical education career counseling and management. In addition, public sports club guidance can be improved by including school athletic team leaders in the qualification standards for public sports club leaders. And in order to diversify the role of school sports team leaders, Article 3(3) of the School Sports Promotion Act is required to be amended.
