Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of educational activities and the multi-stage development of education in Azerbaijan. It examines the activities of the Azerbaijani enlighteners, starting with the period of Islamic civilization, ending with the ideas of enlightenment of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic with reformist ideas of Turkism, Islamism and modernism (Europeanization), as well as the place and role of the Azerbaijani enlightenment in the world educational movement. The article discusses the work and activities of scientists, teachers, cultural figures, educators, patrons, covering a large historical multi-stage path. Among them it should be noted N. Tusi, MF Akhundov, A. Bakihanov, A. Agaoglu, A. Huseynzade, I. Gasprinsky and Z. Tagiyev and others. Having passed a long way of development, reforms and fundamental changes, Azerbaijan’s modern education, having a solid foundation, it is characterized by its high level of development, relying on the enormous accumulated experience.
